Flotilla of Trash

The Trinity river flows all the way to Trinity Bay east of Galveston, Texas. Once in the most polluted of Texas rivers it is making a comeback as Dallas, like Fort Worth, has begun and finished some plans for making it a recreational river.
when I first moved to Dallas 6 years ago, I traveled by canoe up and down the river. The bottom of this capture is where the boat ramp used to be for entry up and down the river.
What I saw on those trips turned me into a different person. Phosphates bubbling up and plastic hanging from trees all along the route and Styrofoam everywhere.
This picture is after three days of rain off and on and a swollen river that floods on occasions as there are levies on both sides to contain a 100 year flood.

Very moody and powerful image Rick that expresses a true sadness towards the lack of respect that a large percentage of the populous has for our waterways. This is a tragedy that I witness all to often and as you have experienced first hand, it can very much change your perspective being out on a beautiful river that is being used as a trash dump. Thanks for helping to make this point so well with this outstanding image and for those who would like to help further with this problem, you can check out the organization 'American Rivers' that was established to restore and protect our nation's rivers and is doing some very meaningful work. See what programs are currently available in your area at http://www.americanrivers.org/
Excellent title by the way . . . :toast:

This needs to be well know to all and your experience is well documented. I will hook up with you some day as your invitation was open ended I hope. :jump:

Our Planet is a blessed GIFT to us, who live on it. People who trash it like this ( and sadly, in worse ways) commit sacrilege. It's like taking your birthday presents and ripping them to pieces right in the face of each one who gave them to you...
Rick, this is a great Pick. Thanks for posting it.
