WC#640-Golden Lit Oaks

These oaks sit atop a hill in Glacial Park in McHenry County, IL. I shot the whole group with sky and fields a few weeks ago, and while I liked it I was really drawn to it cropped in to this section. With the green topic, I decided to head back out tonight with the light looking like it would be good in hopes of capturing just this section.

Beautiful evening light, & the frame filled with green really suits the WC theme Jeff.
Techs look great, well done :toast:

First of all, welcome to NPN!

The lighting here is great, Jeff. I especially like how it shows off the trunks, which sets them in good textural contrast with all the leaves and the grasses. Pulling a pleasing composition out of a mass like this is challenging and you've done well here with the emphasis on that big tree on the right. The left 1/4 seems a touch dark to me, I think a bit of dodging there would improve the visual balance.

Thanks, Mark and Howard.

I was thinking the same on the left side, Mark. I had cropped and un-cropped that section several times but preferred it in the image. I'll give dodging a try tonight. I'm a relative newbie when it come to editing so about time I learn that.

Much easier to do in PS than LR as I'd tried in the past. I dodged the trunks of the right most trees as well to bring some more emphasis on the trunks.

This feels much better. Thanks for the suggestion.
