American Redstart

This is the female of a pair I found near our house in the mountains. A very active warbler that constantly fans its tail, and just refuses to sit still! I was able to see both the male and female capture bugs just like a flycatcher. I spent about 6 hours with them and only have about 15 images that I would consider posting here! The bg is a tree trunk.

50D, 700mm, ISO 400, 1/125, F5.6 Tripod/Wimberly LARGE version is what I posted...thanks for your comments/critiques...I learn from them all! Sharon

Hi Sharon,

The focus looks like its fairly close to ideal. The dark background helps to bring out the subtle coloration of the redstart. Yes--they never sit still and 15 images is better than most folks get in a life-time..............................Jim

I like how the body angle fits in nicely with the broken branch Sharon. Yes, these little ones don't like staying in the same place for long! Nice job pulling this off. :toast:

Nice pose from a bird that always refuses to cooperate, which created nits that you already know. Very well done.

Sharon,
I like the tree trunk background. Good of you to get any images of these fast little fliers. You got him reasonably sharp with a nice pose and good head angle and a catchlight in the eye. You composed this nicely. The perch is a little bit large but you get what you get. 6 hours and 15 images. Good for you for persistence. :toast:
