Rufus,
This is a good early post. It could look good as a vertical. You might find photos of GBH with less congested backgrounds pleasing. At the side of the water or on a limb with distant OOF foliage or hills in the background. Keep posting. :toast:

Colors on the bird look good but very busy background. A photo can most often be improved by moving the bird off center -- Google Rule of Thirds to get some ideas about where to put bird in a picture.

The flasher pose! Accompanied by gular fluttering, it is indeed an attempt to cool down. A nice behavior picture, if a little soft. The busy BG lessens the impact somewhat. Patrick's suggestion of a vertical crop might help there. A crop from the right, placing the bird in the right third, would be another alternative.

Commenting on other photos can also be helpful.

Interesting pose/behavior depicted in your shot. I'm not familiar with that lens but an f stop of 5.6 may have helped to blur the bg a little bit. As is it's a bit busy. Great perch for the GBH! Sharon

Nice behavior capture, Rufus. Looks like strong light didn't do you any favors.
