A tree swallow perched on a fence at the Prairie Wolf Preserve, Lake County, Illinois, taken with a Canon 5D Mark III, Tamron 150-600mm lens at 485 mm, 1/640, f/8.0, ISO 400, about 25% cropped out, otherwise as shot with no processing. On sunny days, these guys' colors are iridescent. This was taken on a cloudy day, so not as bright.

Very nice photo. If you have the room, try cropping with space on the left and see what you think. :toast:

Sweet shot, John. I like the rail as a perch and the swallow looks very crisp and well exposed. I'm not familiar with that lens, but it looks like it performs pretty well for you. I agree with Patrick that a touch more room on the left might be nice, though with this head turn, I don't mind it being fairly tight there.

Wonderful light, really brings out the detail and color of the swallow. Usually hard to get with harsh directional light on sunny days. The BG works well and the perch also. Welcome to NPN John! :toast:

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. Adding just a little more room on the left made a big difference. Great suggestion. :toast:
