I was culling through my files and came across this image that I think is a juvenile Sharp-shinned Hawk (still tough for me tell these from juvie Cooper's, or Red-tailed and Red-shouldered.

Taken in diminishing afternoon light two years ago at Salisbury Beach State Park, Massachusetts.

Hmmmm.. Could this be a Red-shouldered juvie? Whichever it is, it's a beauty. I think that you could bring the overall exposure of the whole photo up a notch. :toast:

Very nice, love the pose and perch. Seems to have a little sharpening halo around the profile. :toast:

Red-tailed Hawk, juvie (they have this narrow banding on the tail).

Nice light and detail.

Nice catch, Chuck. I agree it could be a bit brighter, unless you're trying to convey the late evening situation.

Intermediate juvenile Red-tailed Hawk, Chuck. Both a Cooper's and a Sharp-shonned would have much broader dark stripes in the tail.

Maybe a bit dark? Nice capture and I like the head angle.

It looks like it's assessing the situation! Nice one Chuck, maybe you could think of brightening it a little, but already fine as presented ! Cheers, Hans
