Well technically the fool is in the valley. I really liked the shafts of light behind this formation which has no name as far as I know.

Comments and critiques greatly appreciated

Great light and sky for my tastes Gary. But I also like the folds of rock and the tones in this. The comp strikes me as a touch centered but you've also got nice symmetry going with the mounds on each side of the spike. I like the image as posted - no suggestions.

I agree, the shafts of light breaking through multiple layers of clouds is some very sweet icing Gary
And you always manage the contrast/tones for maximum impact, like everything about this! :toast: :toast:

You captured this scene beautifully Gary, love the shafts of light, clouds, tones, everything about it works beautifully in my opinion. Excellent work.

......on any given day could fit most of us photogs, Gary.......

Can't say I've ever seen this formation before, seems familiar, but not so much I can say for sure. It makes for an excellent subject. This must be a fair piece out there if you're using a 200mm here. Technically as a finished image I'd say this might be one of your best, this is very nice indeed.

Great tele landscape. Shapes and layers are sweet but the light rays even more so. If silver efex was used I wonder how a red filter would amplify the look in the sky.

This is real nice, Gary!!! The undulating, textured foreground is great and leads into a fascinating formation and sky. Excellent.

This is an excellent image, Gary, and I like your b&w processing on this very much. Wonderful lines and textures in the foreground and those light shafts through the clouds really finish this off! :toast:

Love everything about this, Gary. The lines in the foreground complement those subtle lines in the sky just perfectly. Wonderful tonality throughout too. Outstanding.

Hey, Gary, I thought you were going to do color. This is great and I think showing it in b/w lets the subtle streaking in the clouds stand out in a way that color would not. The contrary angles in the sky and foreground really set off the formation well.

I like the textures and the folds. The tones a re very nice. I see what I believe is a sharpening halo around the main tower. I like the streaks of sunlight/cloud shadows.
