Florida Fighting Conch

While down in Florida I spent some time on a sandbar in the intracoastal. As the water receded, these Florida Fighting Conchs appeared - they get their name from a sword like appendage that they use to defend themselves

Nikon AW100 Macro mode / underwater mode
ISO 125
f/3.9
5mm
1/640s

Cropped to about 65%, cloned out one errant piece of grass, other minor adjustments

Wow, nice catch of the conch in its natural habitat, Luke. I like the way it is covered with sand, with the protruding eyes (?). I like the grasses in the bg and the tiny air bubbles, which confirm its an underwater image. My first thought was to brighten the image overall, but I am sure this exposure more accurately reflects the actual look underwater. Well taken image. :toast:

Fascinating creature, Luke.

The subtle little bubbles add interest to the scene.

Very cool Luke!
Like the sharp focus at the eyes, this frontal POV, and the small bubbles rising near one of its eyes..
Great environmental setting/interest, well done! :toast:

Those eyestalks are great, the camo very good, and I really like the scattering of bubbles that tell me this is an underwater shot. This one has me grinning at the critter.
