Khutzeymateen Grizzly
by William Bickle
This area of Northern British Columbia is protected from trophy- hunters in this 98,000 acres +-, Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary , the snow covered mountains are evident with silver rivers of snow melt!
This young female Grizzly Bear has been followed closely by a very large male bear and is always on the look out for him and other intruders. A quiet time for her here as she engages in eating the high protein grasses that her body requires after emerging from her long dormant time during the winter months. Rain was constant in this Temperate Rain Forest & the rain can be seen falling here in rain-streaks.
Taken Early Evening, Rain, overcast skies with little wind.

I feel very fortunate to have witnessed and shared a moment with these Grizzly Bears in their Natural and beautiful environment.
There is so much beauty within this Valley of the Bears , the air is so pure and full of oxygen,.. produced from the Very large trees! Maybe it was the oxygen enriched air that has given me a "Permanent High" for this special Bear Sanctuary?
