Hi Richard: First, a welcome to NPN. Thanks for posting in the Avian critique gallery.
It is a little hard to provide much input as your image is pretty small. You can post an image that is 720px on the long edge with an optional (but highly encouraged) 1200px version. It really makes a difference in being able to see details.
From what I can see, the shooting angle was pretty steep which didn't help you out. Some pretty tough light to deal with. I look forward to seeing more of your images.

Hi Richard...I'll second the welcome to NPN! The female blackbird has an underrated beauty with those pretty markings on the breast which you caught so nicely. I like the perch with the lichens on it, but find the branches intersecting the head a slight distraction. Your blue bg is very nice...is it water?
Next time if you can, post the larger image as Keith has suggested...it really helps others make suggestions on your images. You can find detailed steps on how to do this here: http://www.naturephotographers.net/help.html
Look forward to more from you! Sharon
