I shot this about a year ago today but never happy with my processing. I do like this but sky is not there yet and the tree at bottom is ok IMO.

C&C appreciated :wavey:

The composition is very strong but I think the dynamic range is just too much to handle with one exposure. The fg looks a little green on my monitor and there's definitely some CA distortion occurring around those branches at ULC. It's a good effort....I'm sure I would not have done this well with it. It's just such a cool moment and you want to squeeze everything out of it, if you get my meaning.

Rick,

Even though you only have one image, assuming that you made it in RAW, you might see what you could do with it in NIK's HDR Efex Pro or even DXO's Optices Pro. Both have free demo licensing. Given the drama in the scene, I'd really hate to give up on the image.

I love the idea of the sun star but there's something weird going on...thinks this is lens flare. I would try to remove it. The bottom looks a bit too cyan to me. And I'm not quiet sure about the comp on the left side - it looks too busy for me

I really like your concept here Rick but I feel the sun star is over powering the scene. I agree with Bill about the purple flare and cyan in fore ground. I wonder if darkening the sun star might help. Great idea here though.

That's an awesome sunstar, Rick. Given that it's the "star" of the show, I think you only need a bit more detail in the foreground and maybe a color adjustment layer that's limited to the foreground. The thing that grabs my attention is the halo along the top of the formation and along the frame edges in the sky regions. Is that a processing artifact or in the raw file?
