Here's a troop of Banded Mongooses that came in to the waterhole at Chobe, Botswana near the bunker (an underground blind)

What's better than a mongoose at a waterhole? Seventeen mongoose (mongooses?, mongeese?) at a water hole. Very unusual shot. Really great.

Thanks Jerry, I just looked it up and it's mongooses, not mongeese.

Wow! Terrific shot, Nate! I have seen and photographed these guys many times, but have never seen them like this - all at once drinking water! In fact, I don't think I've ever seen any similar image from anyone! Really unique!

Very cool! The banded patterns are perfect for this alignment.

Hello Nate
Great Capture!:) Their fur seems so bristly ? So many and in focus too! like the small reflection and would be great to see more reflection if you had it?
Very interesting capture and quite unique! :)
Cheers

Thanks Ajit, Ken, Max and Bill. Bill I do have more room on the bottom but the water is mucky and reflective there so I chose to crop it out.

Absolutely fantastic image, Nate! I didn't know they were social animals, I thought they were solitaire. I love how it looks like they all want to drink from the same spot, the noses together. And there is one on the lookout, to watch their tails… Beautiful!

Nate that is a wonderful capture. It must have ben a thrill to witness that. Something I've certainly never seen before.
I appreciate it might make the image look a little less natural but maybe a tad more contrast would help to lift the mongooses from the background.
