Pink Kalanchoe

Hi Everyone,

It was hard for me to get a good comp of these little flowers. Seemed like there was always something out of place. I decided on a shallow dof to get some order in the composition by keeping only a small set of flowers in focus.

Nikon D800 105mm lens 1/125 s @ f/3.8 Natural Light in the shade.

Thanks for taking a look and for your comments and suggestions.

Sanjay

Nice job highlighting the shape and color of these little blooms Sanjay. I think if you were to clone some pink into the top left corner, or crop a bit from the left, I think that would help overall.

Wow, what vivid colors and beautiful flowers! Love the shades of pink and green in this image. I also like your frame-filling comp and your DOF choice. A very pretty and mood-lifting photo, Sanjay.

Sanjay - I have been wanting to make some frames like these with Phlox but never found an assortment fit enough to pull an eye candy.

This looks nice to me with the right balance between in focus and out of focus areas and blooms. The lighter shade in the blooms provides a nice contrast for the darker ones. The only thing I see that can improve the frame is filling the top left corner with more blooms.

Masses of blooms are always difficult for me, Sanjay. I think you did well with your choice of dof and the patch you chose to photograph. I like the little bit of unoccupied space in the ULC.

I think this works nicely, Sanjay, for what is clearly a very difficult subject. There's a feel of jollity about it, as the little flowers seem to dance in and out of focus !!

I really like the isolation you created with selective focus Sanjay. Great work.
