From Upper Cathedral Valley, Capitol Reef. A blend of about 4 exposures for dof and dynamic range. Starting to (finally) get my feet wet with Tony Kuyper's luminosity masks - the learning curve is steep (for me) but I expect it will help a lot in the long run.

So much to like here Jared! You must be getting the hang well; the dynamic range control looks really good to me. (Anything with a sunstar and shadows is hard!) This is a busy image, but in the end it comes together for me. I'm really jealous of your Cathedral Valley trip. It's on my list for my next visit to that neck of the woods. :toast:

love the sunstar and the light on the rocks... I'll echo the comments about the comp being very busy, wonder what it would look like without the (undoubtely beautiful) fg tree

I like what you've done here, Jared. I think the elements work quite well together. I am also on a steep learning curve as far as processing goes. It is immensely frustrating at times. I think this looks spot on to my eye. Cathedral Valley is such a cool place and with this shot I am transported back there and that's very nice.

IMO, this is not to busy at all; just a ton to enjoy and keep one looking at it for a long time! There are actually so many things I really like about this, that it might take a bit too long to go over them, so I'll just mention the other things I *wonder* if they could be improved (I'm speaking with almost no experience with TK's luminosity masks or in-depth knowledge of PS, so take it for what it's worth)...

I love the contrast here, and of course, with this lighting things will be that way, but I wonder if places such as the bottom left corner, the blacks may have been pushed a bit far. This may have been done purposefully, but it does appear a bit 'burnt'. Also, it may be that since everything is sloping down to the right, it may be tricking my mind, but to me this seems like the image could be rotated slightly counterclockwise? Anyways, I might be alone with these thoughts, but anyhow, this is a very well captured image, and I feel that all the different subjects go quite well together into a single shot! As usual, I really enjoyed the large version. :wavey:

Spectacular, Jared! I've started working with his luminosity masks too. You are making far better progress than I am!

Jared, This is really nice! I love the light which you seemed to have handled very nicely. Wonderful color and I like this comp very much. This image has a very nice feel and works especially well in the large version! :toast:

The PP is really good and a great sunburst.
I think some more separation from the FG to the BG would look nice.

Looks wonderful! Love all the interesting details and the sunburst. I like that foreground tree. As a very minor nit, I do think that so evening out of the blue in the sky would be a subtle improvement. (Likely something that only an NPNer would worry about.)

Hmmm... i dont think this is too busy. The left side of the frame is quite simply shown with the sunstar and silhouetted trees. I think I might have liked a bit more radiance from the sun on the huge monolith (as shown only a sliver is highlighted), but this is truly a nit. It's a grandiose shot, nice work.
