Wharariki Beach

I took this photo in January of Arch Rocks from mystical Wharariki Beach in the northernmost region of New Zealand's South Island. I arrived just before sunset and kept shooting as long as the light lasted. I'm posting this photo in the hope of receiving some post-processing critique and suggestions. I live in the United States and therefore cannot return to this location soon to recreate the image. However, I know that it can be improved through processing. So far I have made standard exposure and spot removal adjustments in Lightroom 4. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! :wavey:

That's a wonderful subject, and I really like the ethereal quality Ian mentions that the almost high-key white tone gives it. I wouldn't mind an tighter crop, or, even more empty space to take it the opposite direction.

Very nice symmetrical composition. The soft light and the smooth reflection enhance the mood. As far as processing is concerned I could see adding a little bit of contrast on the sea stack to enhance the texture. I could also see adding a subtle vignette to keep the viewer's eye engaged on the sea stacks.

I also like the high key and dreamy look.
Nice work, looking forward to more.

Fine image. Nothing negative to post. I think it's a pleasing composition and I like the kind of monotone look with the abundance of neutral colors. the details in the fg sand are nice. I like the placement of the horizon. Simple, but very nice.
If you wanted to mess with it, you might wash out the greys a bit more, maybe levels adjustments, almost like a 'high key' to isolate the rock formations some more. Think this one is pretty subjective, and could be shaped as you like.

Being an undergrad PLUS having the ability (and finances) to travel around the world is quite amazing. Not to mention living right outside RMNP! You're very fortunate.
On to the image - it has a very bright, almost high key "look" to it. The sky vignette looks good. I would try to match this with the bottom portion. There seems to be a natural arch of darker area down there - perhaps you could increase that darkness a little. I would also try to bring out more micro contrast in the rock stacks. There's probably a lot more detail in there just waiting to come out. The image is very nice as is, and I like the "dead" space top & bottom. However, I feel it needs a bit more impact in order to keep the viewer interested.

A lovely somewhat surreal photo of one of the most beautiful beaches in the world IMO. I might go slightly darker for the bottom half of the frame.

This is a very cool image, Crystal. I would love to have it and I think it has a lot of possibilities. The first being simple, high key, and understated as you have presented it. Secondly, I think ,given my proclivity for B/W images , I would play with a conversion to strip away all remaining color. I wonder if you have a view from a slightly lower perspective the would mirror in the reflection the arch a bit more clearly. You have a good eye and I look forward to seeing more from you.

Crystal, I really like the elegant simplicity of the image. If it were mine (if only!) I might add a little localized clarity and contrast to the sea stack, and maybe the foreground sand pattern. I also wonder what it would look like as a vertical 8x10 crop, but I also really like it as is.

Very subtle and pleasing capture. there seems to me some space that could be cropped out to help. :argue:
A bit off the left and the bottom.
