Black and White (warbler) Bird On A Stick. While conducting a site inspection at work, I checked out the headwaters of a local river in hope of finding some warblers. In this area, the vast majority of migrating warblers (particularly during fallouts) are further west in Nassau County and NYC (the concentrated parklands/watering holes makes them an attractive oasis for the birds). I was hoping for a little more action but was thrilled when I looked and this B&W warbler popped out from behind a tree and landed in front of me, flitting around briefly before heading off.

Nikon D7100 300mm f4 + 1.7X TC HH
f/6.7
1/2000s
ISO 1000 (could have been lower, but the bird was hoping around in different backgrounds so I wanted to assure I get a sharp image)
Full Frame (cropped mode in D7100)

Minor adjustments in LR5 and CS5

Nice details & comp, good head turn & eye contact Luke.
I observed one this past week, but no shot possible.. Also a Black-throated Green..
There's a relatively short window for these migrating species here in CT as you know.
Well done.:wavey:

Good work in taking advantage of a fleeting opportunity. The head turn he gave you helps a lot.

Excellent sharpness and always great to get a full frame warbler shot Luke. If you could go a touch brighter on the blacks I think that would improve this. :toast:

Very nice. Hard to get this species stationary and in the open.
