This Great White Egret caught this fish while I was photographing him at the arboretum last weekend.

Canon 60D, 70-300 at 300mm, f5.6, 1/1600 sec., ISO 400
Cropped to portrait to show detail in the fish, egret's face, and water drops.

Nice image Barb! I like the small drops of water as well as the position of the egrets head. Would like to see just a tad more detail in the white areas, but I know how hard that can be at times. Thanks for sharing.

Love the closeup action captured, great timing Barb.
I sure like the water drops & the way the egrets eye is trained on the minnow :toast:

Good job on the exposure on this one, Barb. The water droplets only add to what is an excellent capture.

Nice timing to catch the catch. The crop works well and the flying water droplets are a plus. You don't mention what you use to process images, but if you have either Photoshop or Lightroom, try using the shadows slider to open up the detail in the Egret's face a bit more. You can add back a touch of Clarity to rebalance the contrast after that.

Very nice portrait, Barb. The fish is a nice bonus. I'm seeing quite a bit of noise in the bg, particularly in the larger version..
