My Little Owls are back again but I,m not sure if they have young yet. They are using a different hole in the barn wall this time and I wanted to show it in the shot. Not the best of backgrounds to say the least !! - buts thats the way it is.

90th sec @f8
Sigma 50-500mm (At cf 480mm)
Slight crop.

Sharp & clear, great BG separation.. bricks are nice-n-straight too
Nice eye contact, unusual BG but it does tell the story well.
Neat shot John :toast:

Interesting shot. Nice detail, in the owl. I hadn't seen one before and so I looked them up. I was surprised when the reference I checked said the average life expectancy is only three years. How long have they been coming to your barn?

Thanks all.
Rick- Theyv'e been nesting at this site for many years but the birds are not ringed so its hard to tell if its young ones returning
etc.By the way the adults use certain perches from year to year I would like to think they last three years. They are in a pretty safe environment where they are. Good question though!!

Super sharp LO shot, JR. I'd prefer a touch more room at the bottom of the image if you have it, no big deal though

Thanks guys
Andy I can't as I framed it to show at least one of the nest holes. I might have another with some more on that I can "pinch" a bit off !!

You got a great look form him John. agree the BG isn't prime, but I personally think it could be improved by cropping this to a vertical and getting rid of the missing brick and some of the more distracting features of the BG.

Lovely detail in the bird John - I don't mind the background at all. If it's a bird of habitation and farmyards then........
