Tide Flat Symmetry

Ebb tide, no wind and a dramatic sky; how could I resist? I took 3 vertical photos and stitched them to get all of the big fan of clouds in the picture. I also shot a panorama version with less sky and the whole line of mountains (also minus the grass in the foreground) but I like this one better.

Excellent execution on the plan you had here, Gary. I'm envious of seeing all the clean snow capped mountains, something we're lacking in our area for quite awhile now. I do like the darker blue sky in the scene it seems to fit the intense white of the snow and clouds overall. The group of shots stitched really adds to extended viewing area.

In an effort to try to improve on this view you might try to exclude some of the grasses you mention poking in at the bottom. Maybe some creative cloning and such in an attempt to eliminate some of it yet retain the original size in the end. Regardless, a wonderful image(s) captured and processed.

Love the comp devoted to this beautiful sky Gary.
I might consider cloning out just the brightest FG grass, to keep everyone lookin' up
Excellent! :toast: :toast:

ANOTHER great super-view! Man, you could crop this almost any way -- pano, square, horizontal or vertical -- and it would still look great, but I do like the idea of erasing the grass on the bottom. I'm with you on including that big fan of clouds -- I'm a big fan of them, too.

Gary,
This is a beautiful scene, well captured and processed. The water and reflections are outstanding as is that big sky. The foreground grass does not worry me but I would give the image just a bit of CW rotation.
Great post for this WC . . . :toast:

The sky against the snow covered mountains is awesome. The reflection is perfect as well. I wonder how this would look if you cropped out the grasses at the bottom.

Another lovely image, Gary! I like your choice to go large in order to show off all of those interesting clouds. The beautiful snow covered mountains make for a great reflection. As others have also commented on, I'm not a big fan of those foreground grasses. A few tufts from that left clump might work, but as is, it feels a bit messy for the pristine look of the rest of the landscape. You sure do live in a area with lots of majestic scenery!
