Another buck from Addo National Park in South Africa. Full frame from our safari vehicle. I stopped down a couple of stops to try and get all the details in sharp focus.

Hello Nate

Interesting guy with those distinctive antlers. Good detail , good choice of exposure to get full details.

Maybe a little tight all over but an impressive capture. With the jaw movement, seems to be chewing ?

I understand these guys are under pressure with hunting and reduced open areas to graze?

Thanks Bill, the Red Hartebeest is not threatened according to the ICUN at this point. I don't know if they are in decline. He was indeed grazing.

Technical excellence Nate, well composed portrait. Quite an odd looking creature, those horns are bi-zarre!

Exposure and detail are on the money as always. The tighter crop for the portrait works well IMO. I do have to wonder what the evolutionary purpose for horns in this shape can possibly be.

Depth of field looks super, retaining a nice soft background. I like the interest of the moment you captured, mid-chew, with half a tongue showing!

Nate,
This is great, so much detail, particularly in the eyes which are all too often not as visible as here :toast: :toast:
