2014 Boston Marathon

This is a photo of our daughter Emily, a RN at the Blake 12 ICU at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She ran the 2014 marathon in honor of Marc Fucarile, a severely injured victim of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings she helped care for.

This photo was taken at Heart Break Hill, about 20 miles into the 26.2 mile course. Em successfully finished the marathon, crossing the finish line faster than Boston's over-loaded public transportation could get us there.

Emily and her five fellow RNs from Blake 12 unit ran the marathon. They were interviewed several times for both CBS and Fox news before the event, links to the interviews here:

Needless to say, Donna and I are very proud of Emily!

Jim, I was wondering how things went for Emily and the family overall. I'd seen a couple of images of her with some of the other nurses on local TV here in So Cal. After reading your original post on this subject awhile back and seeing Emily in the linked video at that time, it was very easy to pick her out each time I saw any follow up coverages here locally.
So glad to hear it all went so well and she made the entire course. Obviously not an easy task for even the best of long time runners.
I know how proud you all were with her support to the injured during the last marathon and now of course with the outcome of this event too. Very nice news all the way around.

Paul, thanks for taking the time to comment! It was a fun day, the weather cooperated and the event went off without a hitch (as far as I could tell). Marc was at the finish line to greet her and I am hoping to get some photos of that.
