Fawn Lily

Goes under a bunch of names, but that's the local one (Erythronium oregonum officially). The bg is a piece of black felt.

5Diii, 180mm f3.5 macro, tripod, f32, 1/8, remote shutter, aperture priority, -1 stop compensation, manual focus. Processed in LR5 & CS6. This was taken in portrait and the bloom barely fit in the frame so I cropped to square and added some canvas on the right.

Your comments and criticisms are very much appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

Neat look, Dennis, with the whites very well handled. I like your comp. with just a touch of the stem on the left. I think it would be good to clone out that little bulbous drop near the llc. On my 100mm macro, I've found that f/32 is just a touch soft, although I've seen folks say that the softness can be cleaned up with some extra sharpening. This certainly looks nicely sharp.

Looks well made, with the water drops a plus. I agree with Mark on the water drop. The sharpness is good, but a little more wouldn't hurt.

Interesting comp Dennis. I like the point of view. Looks like a difficult flower to compose but you have handled it well. The whites are spot on.

Excellent comp and colors, Dennis! I like the water drops on the flower and stem. I agree with the others that the drop near the llc could be removed.

A very nice profile photo Dennis. Nice details, and it stands out well against the BG. I think I might try cleaning up the subtle spider webs in the curve of the stem.

Great composition Dennis. I tend to agree with the drop of water on the stem, but I sure like everything else.

Excellent rendering of the flower, Dennis, with fine light and colour, though I think I might like to see the stem whole, as a personal preference. Very nicely set in the frame otherwise.

You really closed down that lens for this at F/32, rarely ever go there myself.
Nice comp, colors, details, and this shines in the larger view..
I agree with Mark, "I think it would be good to clone out that little bulbous drop near the llc."
Well done & have a great weekend! :toast:
