Infrared aurora

I'm still having a lot of fun with my converted IR camera, and this one is another experiment. I was out camping and taking some night shots, when all of a sudden a huge amount of northern light appeared. Of course I took a lot of photos with my normal camera, but I also wanted to see if the IR camera would detect anything. Well, it did, and I quite like how this panorama turned out.

6 shots combined, ISO 1600, f/4, 20 seconds.

C&C welcome, a larger version is included.

Pretty cool, Roel. Not something you see everyday. Just enough detail in the large view to hold my attention for quite a while.

I really like the toning the IR created for this. A very unique and beautiful image.

I wouldn't change a thing Roel, you nailed it here: the surreal bluish tone from the IR, the AWESOME northern lights that showed up and the pano orientation all comes together IMO. Great work! You can post the "regular" shots if you like!

Like the take on this. Becomes much more abstract. Love the detail in the larger version, especially the trees. Makes them appear snow covered. This is often a dark mess in aurora photos.
