Nice pose for this cardinal Sandy. I like that rugged looking perch. Great feather detail, however the color seems to be quite a bit off for a Cardinal. It seems a bit bright and oversaturated.

Good detail and comp. I like the open beak and that gnarly perch. The red does look oversaturated.

A beautiful bird and a nice pose. As noted, the colors seem a bit saturated (the reds). Also take a look a the larger image, then the smaller version. (or open them up in two windows side by side) You'll see that the colors are different. The larger version has an Adobe RGB 98 color space. I don't know what the smaller one is. For web presentation, sRGB is definitely the preferred color space for optimal viewing in browsers (at least ones that honor a color profile).

A very pretty boy.
good exposure and colours except for the red on the brow/crest which looks a bit oversaturated and has lost some detail.

Hi Sandy :wavey: Nice. I do wish that the eye was as sharp as the back area. :toast:

Sandy,
I say we start a petition to have these birds start showing up in California. What do you say? :) Very nice capture and a perfect body position. The reds look a little over saturated and the head crest seems to have lost some detail. Were the reds blown out just a touch? Not sure if that's it or not....hard to tell. Another beauty though. Oh, and I love the frame again. :))

Nice pose and comp with a perfect BG. The other have talked about a couple of items so I won't repeat. I do find the colors in the back feathers to be interesting. He has the full red bill of an adult but the back feathering is grayer than our males here in New England.

There are 18 sub-species of red cardinals, and there are varying intensities of colouration.
I'd guess the ones on the various islands of Hawaii are pretty inbred by now.
