While exploring the Umpqua National Forest near my home one fall day, I noticed this group of tiny, inch-tall mushrooms and knelt down for a closer look. When I saw the even tinier fly, I began shooting while laying flat on the ground, edging closer and closer until I had reached the maximum magnification of the 100mm macro lens, with ground moss blocking the bottom part of the lens.

Really well composed, Thomas. Great job on the low, upward perspective and getting the fly so sharp. :toast:

Great job shooting on your belly :toast: Thank goodness, this was just a crane fly (or close relative) and not a GIANT Mosquito

Excellent selective focus. This works well IMO.

A very evocative, moody image, Thomas, executed extremely well with great detail in the insect. Love the perspective especially.
