Bufflehead

I haven't posted to the Avian Gallery for a while, but now that all the income taxes are done I hope to have more opportunities for birds. This Bufflehead swam by as I was working on an Osprey eating a fish in a tree. Couldn't resist the lighting showing the colors on the head, and the color of the foot at the back, right under the water. Applied a bit of burning on the white sides to cool them just a bit. Comments always appreciated.

1DIV, EF600 +1.4, ISO 320, f6.3, 1/1250, tripod, cropped about 30% from original.

Lovely colors on the head, Ralph, and I like the water in this image. Some of the whites still look a bit featureless to me.

You did a good job on a tough exposure. Dennis pretty much said what I was thinking for the rest.

Nice look at the iridescence in the head of this Bufflehead Ralph. Great head turn and I love that you can see the feet through the clear water. The whites are still a tad bit hot. I find this to be one of the most difficult birds to get the exposure right.
