Folks,

Found this today, and I have a task on my hands in the coming weeks I guess. I could not get into a composition mode, as its was raining red ants. This nest of the red ant( weaver) is at 3 ft from the ground, and the there are a few on the over head tree. I had them on my view finder, inside my shirt, and on my hands and tripod.

I need to work on this one in the coming weeks.

Many thanks NPN for your support

Answering Johns question. There is a plant under a tree canopy. The plant thats about 3 feet in height, and has about four nests in them. Each of the nests carefully sewed with about 2 or three leaves. The tree to has a few nests in them. I had set up my tripod at eye level of one of the nests.

Nice shot. That one ant stands out well and then you find the second peeking out of the "nest" where the weaving is going on. I think this works well, particularly where you were getting the Gulliver treatment. Do you have a regular macro that you might be able to put a 2x on to maintain some added working distance or are you limited to the tubes on the 70-200?

Nicely composed, Balan. Like Rick, I like the second ant peeking out from underneath the leaf. Nice work getting both in focus, and an excellent image of the ants doing their stuff.

The prime ant adds a fine golden transparency and the nearly hidden ant is a nice touch. I hope they don't bite too hard.

Balan, Beautiful color and translucency in the big ant. The stem leads the viewer into a nice surprise, the second ant. I like the “movement” and story in this. Hope you are fine.
