D800 Nikon 18-200mm F22 1/90 sec ISO 100 Tripod

Taken just off California Route 395 going up the east side of the Sierra Nevadas. Though I have encountered lupines almost everywhere I travel, I had never seen such huge healthy clumps of them before.

Bob, I'm sure there are several locations along 395 that provide some nice out cropping of lupine, but probably not as much as the few side roads just below the Bishop area. The only time I stopped to take advantage of the scenes the wind was way too strong for any photographic work.
This is a wonderful composition and photographed here on a truly eastern sierra chamber of commerce day. Nicely done.

The clump of lupine are pretty amazing and they're set off well by the warmer and gentler colors in the rest of the image. Does look like a spectacular day to be out and about.
