Badlands...

Badlands NP, South Dakota. Taken last summer. At this moment, the light was fairly flat except for a strip of low level sunlight on the distant hills. It took quite a bit of work in Silver Efex Pro and with Tony Kuyper's luminosity masks to bring out the contrast in the image.

C&C appreciated. Please view LARGE!

Canon 5D3. 24-105 @ 24 mm. ISO 100. f/16. 1/4 sec.

You did a great job bringing out the contrast. I think a color version would work nicely with the pale sands of this region and the dark clouds. Nice as is, though

I'm really enjoying the large version, Doug. Excellent textures, layers, and tones. I personally enjoy seeing these iconic places with the color stripped away. Very nice. :toast:

I really like the way the shapes graduate bottom to top.
Love the lines, the processing, it captures the beauty in B&W.
Nice work....

Excellent foreboding look here at this remote area, Doug. The lengthy processing and overall B&W treatment just adds to this stark look and feeling to the image. Very nicely done both in the field and post processing too.
I would love to visit this place at some point......
