Spotted this guy against a very grey sky. He seemed content to let me try different exposures including some fill flash. Finally I settled on exposure increases with no flash.

Canon PS SX50
1/320 @ F-8 ISO640 +1.3 increase
Canon 4.3-215mm @ 149mm HH

The sky is unfortunate, but you did a nice job in getting a solid capture on him. The detail looks very nice in the larger image. I like the added touch of the partially gnawed nut.

The totally white high key effect works surprisingly well, in my opinion. This is a case where I would go ahead and clone out the stray lines of branches in the light background in favor of all white, given your choices already take the image away from full natural capture.

I like the nice eye contact from the squirrel. The curled tail is attractive as well. I like Lon's suggestion to simplify the background more by cloning out the little twigs.

I like the acorn in the mouth and the curled tail. I could see trying to take out the branches but I think it would be a lot of work. :toast:

Nice choose for HK here John. I also agree with Lon's suggestion.
