This was taken a little later than my previous post. This is what happens when the action gets under way. The males are showing off for the females.

Nikon D800, 300 mm lens, 1.4 teleconverter, f8, 1/800 ISO 400

Thanks for the comments on my previous post.

Thanks for looking and critiques appreciated.

Wonderful action, wicked light! The low POV makes this shot amazing in my opinion. If I have to find a nit it would be maybe a little bit of BG noise in the large version. Regardless I'd be very proud of this shot. :toast:

Very good stop-action details in both subjects May.
Great setting/BG with those soft layers of color topped with sky.
Nice :toast:

Excellent nature story. The position on the one jumping shows your timing was perfect. :toast:

Very cool, May. The action is superb, particularly the upper bird. I wish the lower bird had given you a tad more head turn, but he probably wasn't in the mood to take stage direction. The debris that's been kicked up is a real plus to me. An excellent image.

Love the POV on the shot May. It's what blurs out that background to make for a nice creamy image. Good eye contact on the landing bird and I love the feet that are outstretched for a possible fight. Nice exposure on that under wing. Sweet capture!

Fine action shot of the grouse. Great sharpness and detail. I just spent the morning in a grouse blind, unfortunately there was not action like this.
