Double Arch

This image is from Double Arch in Arches National Park, Utah. I had went out to Broken Arch at sunrise, then over to North Window, so by the time I got here it was mid-morning and I just tried to capture something from a viewpoint I hadn't seen before. This was shot with a 15mm fisheye and then some work with the Transform tool in PS to get rid of some distortion. As the light was getting harsh I decided while there I was going to do a B&W conversion. It's in the M&N gallery due to the road cutting through the middle-ground.

Any critiques would be greatly appreciate. Please see larger version for better detail.

Canon 5DII, 15mm fisheye lens, f/16, 1/30 sec, ISO 100

Excellent Scott. Great choice for B&W, and your conversion looks perfect IMO. Well done.

Wonderful designs and comp, nicely processed in b and w. I had to search to see the road. It looks like another world.

Awesome take on this iconic spot, Scott. Love the fisheye here and the conversion. Is this one exposure? If so you handled the dynamic range wonderfully and if not , nice job in capturing all the detail. Something makes me want to darken the shadows slightly but I could not tell you why. Love it. :toast:

Very nicely composed, Scott. And a good choice for B&W. Double Arch is on my agenda for my trip in May.

I like this a lot. It is a nicely different take on that spot and the conversion works beautifully.

Well done on the conversion. I like your viewpoint, and the speck of moon is a nice touch.

This scene almost looks like something right out of a scifi movie or a Star Trek episode. Very nice conversion and processing; Excellent use of light and shadow. :toast:

I think this works really well as a B&W. Fine composition.
