The Perfect Blue

I just returned from an expedition in the eastern Alaska Range. We had blue bird weather every day which was great though very rare for the Alaska Range, which has some of the worst weather on Earth.

One of the more interesting and disturbing aspects from the trip was the lack of snow. Many of the glaciers were already free of snow and day time temps were almost reaching above freezing, in March!

This is a bad sign for the glaciers of the eastern Alaska Range, which are already some of the fastest receding, non-tidewater, glaciers in Alaska.

Very sad state of affairs isn't it? Sometimes, I wonder if Mother Nature is gonna get rid of us before we ruin her.
Anyway, nice post. On my little macbook screen, I'm having a hard time with the scale of this shot. Looks like an aerial shot from plane? Would like to see a larger version, and I'll connect to my external monitor.

Alan, that section of the glacier is about a half a mile long. It was taken from a Super Cub as I was flying out the mountains.
