Stacked clouds

These clouds were no April Fool's joke. For several hours, these clouds passed over central Kansas. I managed to get under one of the individual streams, and photographed it head on passing over a favorite windmill. I don't know the meteorological name for these kinds of clouds, but would appreciate being told if anybody here knows. I cropped this out of a 4 horizontal photo vertical stack. 7D, ISO 200, f/11, 1/640. C&C always welcome and appreciated.

Sorry, do not know clouds at all. You certainly make the most out of what Kansas is giving you. Like this one, the clouds do make this stand out and the windmill finishes the impression. Take a look at this as a pano, when I scrolled up I happened to stop with most of the clouds gone, but was very impressed by how it looked, IMHO to give the image more depth. Thanks for sharing.

Marvelous juxtaposition of the windmill with that gigantic, whirled cloud. I like seeing the whole thing, as it looks more ominous and big.

Great capture, Rob. I don't know the meteorological name but nice job in recording it whatever they are called. Boy,I might really play with a conversion here, I think it may have tremendous impact as a b/w. Nice.

Thanks for the comments. I hadn't considered a b/w conversion. John, I see your point on a landscape panorama crop, but I like the towering clouds. I did photograph the scene horizontally with a different POV, but I haven't worked that image up yet.

Love the bottom of the image with the narrow end of the cloud and the windmill. Wonder how it would work cropped. :toast:
