Agave Glow

This is a backlit agave. Had to shade the lens to prevent flare, though failed in this endeavor in a few frames.

I like how the sharp edge projections on the leaves are both black and white at different parts of the plant. This wasn't noticed when I was taking the image, but I like it in the print.

This image if focus-blended for DOF (6 images). It's also "Clarity" blended with the lighter values having decreased clarity to give the sense of glow and the darker values having increased clarity to give a sense of texture.

Your thoughts would, as always, be appreciated.

Nikon 5D2 (oops, Canon 5D2), 28-300 lens @ 300, f/16, 0.5 sec.

Tony, you are the master of the nuanced blends. Remarkable. I love agaves, and have attempted many shots with varying results. I really like the framing here: dark to light, bottom to top. Focus blend looks to be spot on. Just a wonderful agave study. :toast:

Beautiful study in B/W. How many images in the focus blend? A great idea, btw, changing the clarity from image to image in the blend. My only nit is the "Nikon 5D2".

I like how the barbs are crystalline clear and the bottom is deeply fading to black while the top is opposite and bright. My only nit is the feeling of tilting due to the agave lines strong to the lrc and the light that seems to come from the viewers left. Great tones and details throughout.

Wow, this really pops, Tony! B&w looks perfect for showing off the variations in tonality. Clarity blending sounds like an interesting approach as well. (Yeah, I needed something else on the processing end to explore. )

Expertly handled high contrast image, Tony ! The contrasts are also there in the textural differences between top and bottom of the leaves. Beautifully composed too - I like it !!!!
