This is one of four sub-adults who with their mum and her sister were we believe leaving their pride. The reason for this was the presence of two new males who are likely to kill the cubs fathered by other males. We are back in Hwange in a few weeks and hope to find them safe.
Taken in Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe

Great portrait. I love the background. That new lens is so sharp. Well done.

The gentle green background and negative space on the right make this a fine portrait.

Hey Ken,

No technical nits with this image - sharp where it should be and nicely out-of-focus where it should be. If I'm being fully honest (troublesome trait that gets me into a whole lot of trouble on a regular basis) I have to say this one doesn't really grab me or, for lack of a better phrase, doesn't speak to me. It may be the diffuse lighting or something else, but I don't feel any personality coming through here...

Cheers...

Brad

Brad,
An interesting comment (as always), I suppose that without being there or knowing the circumstances then you are probably correct in saying that this image does not "speak" to you.
But then again knowing the circumstances and place does not always add, I am thinking of the BBC winner here
