Now that is a great shot! I'm getting hungry just looking at it.

Excellent portrait. mesmerizing eyes that I hope to see in a month.
True colours, but the large version has quite a bit of noise.

Excellent nature story here. You do lock into those eyes. I don't think it is noise, because it isn't in the BG at the same level. it looks like you may have added some sharpening to the soft fur under the chin and throat. I don't think you need that. The entrails, nose and eyes are enough IMO.

The relaxed, reclining attitude creates a mood different from the reality of her snack! My wife at first thought it was a flower at her mouth! The richness of the saturation adds to the impact.

Hi Ken,

Life like it really is, eh?

Good impact with this image - those coiling and intertwined entrails definitely draw one's eye! Not sure I'd want it hanging on my wall ( ), but it would nicely illustrate the concept of a food chain in a textbook.

While "techs" on an image like this are arguably of less importance than others that are more likely to hang on a wall, the image does seem to be on the soft side and the noise is definitely visible throughout the image on my monitors. I'm a bit surprised about the amount of noise at ISO 800 with this camera, but perhaps this is a large crop and lacking the noise-reducing benefit of "shrinking" the image down a lot for web use?

Cheers...

Brad

This is indeed a large crop probably around 25% of the RAW, which seems too have stetched the ability of the 1DX a little to far, but then the Cheetah was in the shade

Great close up, right down to the Impala's intestines.
