Out to Pasture (WC#628)

I took this image back in 2012, coincidently enough about an hour prior to taking my lone tree entry for last week's competition.

I thought the open door on the car gave the impression that who ever drove it there just got out, walked away and couldn't even be bothered to close it. The old pump was an added bonus. The mostly negative space around the pair for me, helps create a feeling of loneliness/abandonment.

Thanks for looking and any feedback is appreciated.

I agree about the negative space and its effect. Great story telling image.

Very artistic image, Carey. Love this high key presentation and it certainly says abandoned .

Great artistic image, Carey. Your use of the negative space is outstanding! The little strip of land has a great comp in itself with the placement of the trees, car, and pump. But your placement of this small scene within the framing of the larger image is what really makes this image soar IMO. The sky and snow have just enough form to be recognizable but mostly function as open space which adds to the sense of abandonment and loneliness, as you said. B&W works great with this scene. Well done!

Your high key b&w processing really helps the sense of isolation here. I like all of the negative space.
