Trillium Portrait

The dark forests near my former home in western Oregon would suddenly become filled with bright Trillium flowers every Spring for a few weeks, and one evening I set out with a specific goal in mind; to isolate an individual flower amidst all the surrounding darkness. Although I quite like this image in color, I feel like the B&W version better conveys the sense I was after.

Enchanting…emerging as in new birth… delicate and elegant. Would only wish the bloom were spun slightly to reveal more of the pistal/stamen area. I like the cloudy effect.

Conveys drama. Love the haze the trillium is emerging through to its brilliance in the flower. Excellent image!

I like the concept, and you've certainly achieved your goal. Two nits: the large OOF foreground leaf and the lack of structure in the trillium petals.

Very pleasing composition Thomas. Like the large area of blurred background. Wish there was a little more detail in the white petal, but great as it is. Well done!

Really nice Thomas. I love the 'cram' effect - with the flower emerging from the haze. Great light behind the flower too. Very nice treatment.
