Crab Reflection

One winter I spent three weeks in Corcovado National Park on the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica, and spent a good deal of my time exploring a stream near where it flowed into the sea. There was a great deal of wildlife there, everything from caimans, snakes, and Basilisk lizards, to Tapirs and crabs. When I saw this tiny crab perched on a rock, I positioned my camera just above the water surface to get the perspective I wanted, and some space between the crab and its reflection. C&C welcome.

Very nice find and capture, Thomas. Love the backlighting, perspective, colors, and the crab's strong reflection. It's a bit unfortunate that the crab's "face" is dark, but backlighting giveth and the backlighting taketh away. Overall, a fun, unique and excellent image. :toast:

Love it. Wish I could see more red in his reflection, though. It's almost a silhouette. But, make no mistake, I think this is an outstanding find! :toast:

Really nice, and very well seen! This is really cool and would probably look great as a print. Stunning!

Thanks for the comments. Yeah Scott, I love backlighting but it is indeed a double-edged sword. I've never really learned to use fill-flash to illuminate a back-lit subject because I see far more examples of it done poorly than well, but it certainly would have helped in this situation.
