This is a foxtail pine high in the southeastern Sierras, a photo I took back in 2008 with my old camera. It has survived many a wind and snow storm, and possibly even a fire. Quite a unique shape, IMO, and similar to some kind of microcephalic robot.

Canon Rebel xTi, ISO200, 47mm, f/16, 1/160 sec.

Thanks in advance for any comments or critiques.

Very interesting look to this old tree, Kathy. I agree, has a robotic view about it. Composition and B&W looks good too.

I thought it was some kind of man or animal sculpture, looking at the thumbnail. Cool old tree!

Very cool find! The comp does give it a robotic look.

Very cool b/w image, Kathy. Such a stark existence and a nice take on this challenge.

What a unique tree! It has weathered in some unique ways. The slot in the low part of the trunk and the odd branch coming out of the top of the tree are unusual and interesting. B&W works well to highlight the shapes and textures in this tree.
