Waterbuck

Here's another buck from Africa. This one a Waterbuck photographed on our Chobe, Botswana extension from a specialized photography boat which has wimberley type triod heads fixed onto the boat. This is cropped to vertical, it was late afternoon, sweet, saturated light. The background is reddish dirt covered hills. The animal was on one of the many islands in the river, you can get quite close to a lot of animals and birds photographing from a boat there.

Nice light, Nate - good portrait - I like the fact that you didn't clone the flies out…they are part of the scene. :wavey:
Grt, Ingrid.

Super detail. You caught him in mid chew. Love the light and agree that leaving the gnats (or what ever they are) in maintains an important element in the story. :toast:

Hello Nate

Yes, Sweet light and you caught the mood just right with this moody muted capture!:)

Like the details and can see some flying insects too. Beautiful spiral head piece with detail, and a stunning clear background .

Cheers.......Thanks for sharing!

Hi Nate,

Nice portrait - good call on going vertical on this one!

I always like when flies and other little "reminders" of the reality of the conditions that wildlife live within are picked up and retained in an image.

Looking forward to further posts from this trip...

Cheers...

Brad

Beautiful portrait Nate, the warm African lighting is hard to beat. Looks like he has quite a tear in his left ear. Looks like he was chewing his cud, the jaw is maligned slightly - just an observation, I'm kind of anal about trying to capture the jaw straight when I can. :roll eyes:
