Beautiful bird, perch and colors. Quite a large bird (the largest of the Kingfisher Family I assume) - although the image doesn't give that away. Anyway, a great shot with very good techs ! , hans

Excellent in every way Simon. Beautiful eye detail particularly and the background is buttery smooth.

Excellent portrait. The detail in the larger version is exceptional. All of the techs look to be right on the money. The comp and perch are nice as well. I keep going back to the "talon" on the main toe on the right foot as we view it. Size wise, this guy may be outdoing an eagle. Great job.

Very nice image Simon. I like the angle of the head implying he is looking for a meal opportunity below. Techs are great as usual.

Nice one SImon, like the typical 'eyes downcast' pose

Excellent shot Simon, love the downward pose and how it contrasts with the upward diagonal perch.

Very nice image Simon. Love seeing images of our birds taken under normal conditions within their own environments.
I am so sick of looking at set-up images of Aussie birds that I never even click to see them beyond a thumbnail.
They simply look artificial to me.
