Carmel Mission Basilica

I've been fooling around with some HDR exposures but not in the exaggerated "comic book" way. This was a 3 exposure (-2, N, +2) shot brought into PS HDR Pro. The file was adjusted somewhat then the original normal exposure was aligned over the HDR. A layer mask was added to the normal exposure and a brush used to reveal the HDR layer; I used 50% opacity for the pews and floor tiles, and 30% for the remainder of the image. The Basilica of Mission San Carlos Borromeo del Rio Carmelo, commonly know as Carmel Mission, was founded on June 3, 1770.

Nikon D600, 24-85 lens at 24mm, tripod.

Lovely! A well and thoughtfully constructed image. Using HDR as a tool rather than a style is a much better approach. Looking at the area above the altar, it does look like the processing has reduced the IQ slightly, although this may have been more of a resize loss due to compression.

Looks great, and NATURAL. Excellent use of HDR. I like it when you can't tell it has been used.
