A winter visitor to Africa, we found quite a few of these, even though we were hoping for Leopards and Cheetah.
Taken in Ruaha National Park, Tanzania.

The color palette is great on this one. The blue in the background matches the blue on the roller. One of my favorite birds. Well done.

Great shot with excellent detail and gorgeous colors. I find the tail to be amazingly compact for a bird of this size.

Great shot Ken ! I do like the blue band in the upper part of the image, matching the bird's colors. , Hans

Excellent pose, eye contact and details, Ken. Love that slightly hooked bill and the wonderful pastel colors of this bird.

Wonderful feather detail and interesting color scheme. I might have cropped to take the blue out of the top of the image to have one background color but a minor point to a very nice image. Well done Ken.

Thanks everybody for your comments, they are much appreciated
Rick,
You have raised an interesting point about the size of the tail certainly something I had not really thought about before. It seems of the 6 types of Roller seen in Africa 2 have "short" tails (European and Purple) the remaining 4 have "long" tails (Abyssinian, Lilac Breasted,Racket Tailed and Blue-Bellied), I have never seen a blue bellied

Ken,
Terrific soft even light for this image. Could not be better. Very sharp, and a perfect head turn with a beautiful background. It's not a leopard or a cheetah but it's darn close. Very cool looking bird. Nice job.
