Borneo Caves

A photo taken in a cave near Miri, Malaysia.

My father was born in Sarawak, Borneo, on the Malaysian side. In February I visited the area and took a trail walk into these caves. The caves are extensive and deep. With around 25 lbs of camera equipment, jet lag, and the time of day I was able to get to only a part of the cave. I shall return on another trip and tour the area when I have time.

Looks like a very interesting place John. Seems very dark on my screen. Very tough scene with a lot of dynamic range. I could see lightening the shadows a bit and darkening the sky. But that's just my preference. Nice job.

Thank you Bill, I agree the photo is dark. I should have taken multiple exposures and merged them, especially the area where the exterior light is overexposed.

I agree with Bill, though instead of lightening up the shades you might try cropping some of it in the upper and left side of photo so the eye can better focus on the opening.

Thank you Lucy. The opening or light area did not seem to interest me. The shape of the naturally formed structure caught my eye, instead of the normal looking in shot I was going for the looking out shot showing the depth leading to the opening.
