As with your recent wigeon and shoveler posts, this Wood Duck appears dark and flat as presented. The histogram for this image shows tones are predominantly on the dark side of middle gray, with a large unused range on the highlights side. The bright area around the eye (Sibley calls it "White") looks grayish as if the highlights were heavily suppressed in post processing.

Thre's good detail/sharpness in this, with a nice low point of view. I'd like to see this brighter and closer to natural tones.

Nice colors indeed, Jerry, and an excellent job of bringing them out. It does look as if it could be brighter.

I agree Richard. Some of my images appear darker after posting them. How's this repost?

The repost is a lot better.

Colors/brightness shouldn't change when posting. Are you embedding the proper color profile in the jpeg for posting? Processing in a wider color space than sRGB and not converting before posting?

The lighter repost shows off the true beauty in this lady very nicely. As always the detail is excellent. With the ripples in the water, the reflection isn't as strong so I would be inclined to crop up about half the distance to her. :toast:

The second image is much better. I like the ruffled feathers.

Nice detail and sharpness Jerry, for me the repost is too light and the original is too dark, so something in between would be ideal I think. :toast:
