Photo taken in Sepang,Malaysia (March 2014). Image was edited and cropped slightly. Hazy day. Birds active all day cutting through the air, head lowered with sharp turns catching insects, including bees.

A beautiful subject with those colors. Too bad the lighting was a little flat. I suspect those colors sing in nice light. The comp and pose look good. The open bill is a plus. The BG is nicely smooth, though the OOF open areas are a bit bothersome. Not much you can do with that. We have to take them where they present themselves. The detail shows a little better in the larger version. Well done.

Nice light and composition, John. To my eye, it looks like this may have been a bit off focus on the bird with a fair amount of sharpening to compensate for it. It still comes across quite nicely. I do wish for a bit more of a head turn toward you.
