Found this Red-Shouldered Hawk on Saturday in Portage, IN. It was pretty busy looking for food, so I didn't want to disturb it. The conditions were tough. Made minor adjustments in lightroom.

Love the hawk, we don't get this species in my part of the world. Nice job getting this pose and a good turn of the head towards the camera. There are a lot of branches in the frame but I think that they are more acceptable with this sort of species - it is their kind of habitat.

Nice natural hunting pose. The exposure is good. Not much you can do on the clutter, it is the kind of perch they seem to go to. The face looks like it may be worth a second round of selective sharpening.

Good job getting it unobstructed, Jason, and most of the bg twigs don't seem to distract the eye. If you do cloning, I'd think about removing the ones that intersect the head. It wold take some patience, but it's not that difficult. The Hawk looks just a bit soft to my eye-you might try a bit of sharpening.

The branches don't bother me. I do love the colors on this guy. I shoot eagles in Wisconsin and have to deal with a similar habitat. Well done on getting him in the clear.
