Love the B&W version Doug. The light and shadow play works well. The color version works too but I tend to be partial to B&W especially if done well as this is.

Wonderful image, Doug! I'm partial to the b&w version - wonderful play of light, lines, and shadow. No nits from me on this one. :toast:

Don't need color for this one, Doug. It's a fine b&w.

Both the b/w and color are outstanding Doug. The lines and texture in the snow of the b/w image really make the image, while that wonderful glow of the backlit fog and trees in background of the color version is captivating. Hard to choose a favorite.

My vote is for the b/w, Doug. Sensational! I absolutely love the lodgepoles and their long straight shadows, the cream cheese texture of the snow, and that spot of backlighting to draw you right in. Pretty much as good as it gets. :toast:

Tough call for sure, but I'm leaning slightly to the color version. Can't give a good reason why though, just like it a little better.

Your title is perfect. The long shadows do a great job of leading my eyes back to the glow from the sun and the textures in the snow keep the foreground fascinating. I prefer the b&w version as for me, it emphasizes the textures.

B&W for sure. This is lovely!

Have you experimented with a tighter crop -- bringing the bottom edge up just a bit so the waves in the snow are stronger foreground elements?

It works really well as-is. Just a thought.
